Programs & Services
All services are available to the community regardless of ability to pay or HIV status.Social Support- Community connects all aspects of health. Reentry Programs- ASG educators go where the need is, and we are committed to providing HIV and STI education to individuals who are incarcerated. The rate of HIV among prisoners is 5 to 7 times that of the general population. Our prison outreach program includes free, confidential HIV testing in our prisons and jails. For people living with HIV, ASG provides one-on-one support and case management for the transition back home.
Life Coaching- ASG offers specialized one-on-one life coaching. Create a vision for the future, identify stressors, improve communication, and set clear, concise goals to get what you want out of life. Our life coaching services are available to all, regardless of HIV status or ability to pay.
Dominion Day Services- Although we have made tremendous strides in HIV treatment and care, more intensive support is still needed by people living with HIV/AIDS. ASG partners with Dominion Day Services to provide in-home and community-based support services to those experiencing difficulty in their lives due to emotional, behavioral, medical, and mental health issues. Each client receives individualized services and training so they can function as successfully and independently as possible.
Education and Outreach – ASG educators are available to speak with individuals or with groups about HIV/AIDS, STDs, teen pregnancy, healthy relationships, and condom use and negotiation. Education sessions include goal-setting strategies to help individuals reduce risky or harmful behaviors. ASG educators also attend health fairs, community meetings, testing events, and ASG groups and classes. ASG offers HIV risk reduction counseling and education at every HIV testing session. Free, confidential HIV testing is available by appointment.
Housing Assistance – A safe, stable home is critical to positive health outcomes and success in school or at work. For people living with HIV, housing is even more critical. A secure place to live increases adherence to medications, improves health outcomes, and decreases the community viral load. For eligible clients ASG is able to provide short-term emergency housing. Long-term housing assistance is also available for some clients. Individuals must apply for housing through the ASG Housing Committee.
Mental Health Services – HIV/AIDS is associated with a variety of mental health disorders including anxiety, dystemia (a mild form of depression) and major depression. The strain of HIV or HIV risk can pose a significant mental health burden on family members, friends, and other caretakers. ASG offers mental health services regardless of ability to pay for anyone living with, affected by, or at risk for HIV or AIDS.
