Help ASG

How You Can Help
Because ASG is the only agency in Central Virginia that is dedicated solely to stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS, the need for our services is urgent and growing as the numbers of new infections continue to rise.  Especially alarming is the infection rates among area youth.  Families from all walks of life, all economic and social backgrounds have been affected.  ASG is the only agency in Central Virginia that is dedicated to stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS.

The epidemic has changed since it first appeared in the 1980's, creating a shift in the populations impacted.  The needs for services and funding patterns have shifted, as well.  Grantors require agencies to bear larger percentages of program costs through fundraising.  Increased need and tightening resources dictate clear prioritization.

Can you give to the AIDS/HIV Services Group?  Donations of time, energy and money are always needed, and are greatly appreciated.  Click on either link above, and read on for more information on ASG's Opportunities for Serving and Giving:

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are the heartbeat of ASG. They give their time, energy and compassion in a number of ways. Among other opportunities, volunteers may choose to work directly with clients, help in the office, assist with special events, or serve on committees. Volunteer Training is required of all ASG volunteers and is offered throughout the year.

Perhaps you are a member of an organization or community group that would like to offer your services for a special project.  We can accommodate you!

There are several volunteer opportunities:

  • Buddy Program

  • Child Care, Domestic Assistance

  • Front Office

  • Special Events

  • Committee Member

Fundraising
ASG seeks to raise $210,000 in gifts from the community for the 2006-2007 budget.  While an aggressive grants campaign and special events fund-raising supports much of ASG programming, increased community support, participation and awareness is vital to continue key ASG education programs and client services.  Much needed programs and services needed to meet the growing threat of AIDS/HIV await on adequate funding.

There are many ways you can give:

  • Volunteering during our fundraising endeavors

  • Cash gifts

  • In-kind donations

  • Deferred gifts, such as bequests

  • Multi-year pledges

  • Securities

  • Real Estate
